MEATLESS MONDAY : RESTAURANT SAAGA IN HELSINKI

In the evening of a rainy day we headed out in a downpour to dine. I've been wanting to try Lappish restaurant since our last visit and picked Saaga even I had read very mixed reviews on Tripadvisor. It is a theme-restaurant, obviously geared toward tourists and when we dined there, full of Russian and American businessmen.
The interior decor has the touch of Lappish artists and artisans. Dishes are served on wooden platters, in kuksa wooden mugs, cast iron pots and ice. Servers are dressed in traditional costumes and well-trained to bump up the tab with drink offerings. Service was friendly and dishes came out swiftly, which was great.
We started our dinner with aperitifs called Lappish Glimmer. If I don't remember completely wrong it was some kind of cloudberry liqueur. Pretty good. We skipped appetizers since I was afraid I'd be too full in the end, which had happened in every other restaurant...
BEETROOT CAKE SAAGA STYLE with boiled Lappish almond potatoes, sautéed black salsify and roasted garlic cream sauce with honey
FLAMBÉED BUTTERMILK PANCAKES Served with spruce shoot syrup ice cream and sugared berries
LAPPISH CHEESE IN CINNAMON CREAM IN A CAST IRON PAN Served with sugared cloudberries.
