Saturday will be day #4 out of my 8 day workweek. What a pleasant surprise to come back to work and see a schedule like that. Not. I've been drinking soy mochas and green juices to get through the days. Our boss gave everyone vacation at the same time so the few of us that are left get to work insane hours. Trying to stay positive. At least after tomorrow I'll be halfway through. My bank account will be nice and fat. I will cherish even more my regular 3 day workweeks filled with yoga, sitting in my "home office" (pictured above), hanging out with friends, cats and the man. Thinking about the trips to abroad we have ahead of us. Oh, and there's a boat party Saturday afternoon. Cruising on the Hudson. Unless it rains. Follow the latest news on Facebook.
Have a great weekend ya'll!

Picnics are a great escape
On a warm summer day
Butterflies play
Ants stay away
Food to cook and games to play
It's a wonder we don't do this everyday!
Here's a short video of the Picnic. Sorry, it's a bit shaky...

On Saturday we packed our bags and headed out to the Great Hill in Central Park for another one of our famous color-themed picnics (check out our previous picnics here: Pink & White). This time it was blue which kind of went well together with the midsummer being the same time. For once we were lucky with the weather since it was warm and sunny, but not too hot. Good times!

Yesterday a whole lot of Scandinavians, and others too I'm sure, gathered together in Battery Park to picnic in the grass, decorate the midsummer pole, make flower wreaths, play traditional games and dance to authentic fiddle music. This was my first time ever to attend and I'm glad I did. Weather was just perfect, not too humid and hot.
I loved all the flowers people had on their hair. Next year I need to get mine. DIY flower wreath instructions here.
In Finnish tradition, Midsummer Eve and the long, bright, nightless night has always believed to have magical qualities. Still some people do spells and charms with a twinkle in the eyes. Most of those spells are in some way, linked to ones love life. For instance, if you put seven different flowers under your pillow on Midsummer night you’ll meet your future spouse in your dreams…

I was first introduced to Lalicious during NY Fashion Week at Ivana Helsinki's show. Their gift bags featured full-size (=huge) container of this heavenly fragrant "Sugar Kiss" body scrub. It's a blissful combo of vanilla, citrus and rose and as a moisturizing agent it has coconut oil. So right before you get off the shower rub it all around your body, rinse quickly and pat dry. Your skin is soft and smells unbelievable.
I've waited and waited for them to come out with a body spray and they just did! Of course I immediately ordered it,  "Sugar Kiss Everyday Everywhere Spray", and I could not be more satisfied with it. It's smells perfectly girly without being too overpowering.
I also ordered a small bottle of their body butter so I can carry it in my purse and when I travel. As a free sample they sent me this Peppermint body oil. It also smells amazing and I use it for my legs and feet immediately after I get out of the shower to energize them.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the Summer Solstice! We're finally having our Blue Picnic this weekend so follow the fun on Facebook!I'll post some sneak peek photos straight from the event.

While our Blue Picnic was post-poned once again due to rain I met with this lovely blonde for drinks at the pretty Aspen Social Club after work. The bar/restaurant is located inside the Night Hotel in Times Square (47th St.)and was still quiet early Sunday evening and cocktails were the average Midtown price, $14, but good, as was the service.

Husband has expressed growing interest in vegan food so I've decided to be more active in the kitchen. I ordered couple of new cooking books from Amazon and the title on this one was just what I had been looking for. I love cookbooks with lots of big, colorful photos and this one is full of them. I think photos are what inspires you to cook!
Roberto Martin is a carnivore himself and is the private chef for famous vegan couple Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi, so his recipes are basically modifications from traditional meat dishes. I think this book is a great way to introduce carnivore slowly to the world of the happy herbivores!
If you got inspired you can buy the book here. Also, check out Ellen's vegan website here. What are your favorite vegan cooking books?
