Finally, last Sunday, after work I visited the famous Eataly in Flatiron District. We were in the area visiting a new favorite store of mine, Crossroads Trading Co that my friend Keli had discovered. It's a buy-sell-trade-consignment store that has 29 stores across the US and is headquartered in California. I found two items that kept haunting me and I might go back tomorrow to buy them. One was beautiful long, tribal style cardigan and the other one was wide leg chiffon pants. Something new for the spring now that I have a job that pays well again.
Anyways, when heading back to the subway we decided to check out Eataly since neither one of us had never been there. And we both fell in love... Eataly makes and carries any kind of pasta you can imagine, aisles of olive oils (nearly 100 varieties), Eataly Vino offers over 700, exclusively Italian wines, over 400 varieties of regional Italian cheeses, from March through September, their produce is locally grown in New York and New Jersey, 17 different eateries to choose from, wonderful desserts, bakery and so much more.
We actually got an idea to have a "Eat, Pray, Love" themed culinary get-together here with the girls one night. They're open 'til 11pm every day! Vino, pasta and some tiramisu. Yum!
"Eataly is more than a supermarket with restaurants. It is an energetic marketplace, an opportunity to taste and take home the products of artisans who till, knead and press to bring you the highest quality products at fair price. We have assembled the absolute best Italian producers from every region under one roof and the absolute best chefs to cook their wares; Eataly is the heartbeat of Italy. Our new New York address does not mean we are only about importing. Our bread is made with New York flour, our gelato is whipped up with local dairy and our meat, produce and fish are almost always American. Grazie, America!"

Last weekend we had two-in-one birthday parties (my both nieces) as well as a fun charity event organized by our little town where we got to tour some of the magnificent houses in the area. More about that later on.
Love how her little cousin is helping her blow out the candles. Such cutie pies.
I went to the party right after work and the Italian-American father of these girls had prepared some delicious pasta and of course we had two cakes, one for each girl.
I love the sequined shoes! Wonder if they make them in size 9 1/2?

Enjoy your weekend!
I'll be working Saturday and Sunday at the hotel, but will try to post little updates and photos to Facebook.

I've probably said this before, but I'm really not a make up kind of girl. I own just the basics, like one eyeliner pen, one mascara and one eye shadow (which gets used maybe once a year). And I use them until they're completely finished. I really hate shopping for make up. But since I'm now back in front of hundreds of people every day at work I kind of need to look a bit more presentable. So I went and got me a brand new eye liner pencil (in brown, always) from the Body Shop. This one's called the Carbon Eye Definer and it goes on nice and smooth.
Yet another one from Body Shop. I had to the Sweet Lemon Body Butter because it was 50% off and ended up costing only $10! I already got the vanilla body butter from BS, but this soft lemony scent is nice and energizing during spring and summer mornings. I still use coconut oil as well, especially after shaving.
I'm not the one for "adult" fragrances so strawberries, mangos, peaches, cotton candies and Indian temple oils are the kind of scents I'm all about. :)
Now these tablets were a total impulse buy. I was at Westerly Natural Market the other day getting fresh juice from their juice bar for my juicing friend Keli.  These electrolyte and vitamin-enhanced drink tabs are great replacement for sports drinks and making sure you stay optimally hydrated during work-out. Just add one to a cup of water and wait. Drink.
And last, but not least, I found this colorful bag for spring on sale for just $12 at Laila Rowe!

Can you recognize this brownstone from a certain TV show?
Since we're talking about pretty places, how about Seattle? Anybody out there in Seattle? Know any bloggers from Seattle? Have you been to Seattle and have a good tip for a hotel, restaurant, store, cafe? Must see things? I would love to hear from you since I'll be headed that way soon and since hubby will be working I'll be exploring the city on my own most days.

Here's another delicious, healthy raw, vegan dessert from Everyday Raw Express. Try it and you'll notice that there really isn't need for heavy cream, white sugar, gelatin or any of that unhealthy crap people like to use to make desserts.

Today's smoothie had handful of turnip greens (remember to rotate your greens!), 1 banana, 1 apple, 1 orange, 1 celery stalk, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 4 tbsp hemp protein powder, 1 tbsp maca and 1 tsp ashwagandha and 1 tsp spirulina. And some filtered water of course. Vitamix it up and enjoy!
Before I drank the smoothie I had room temperature water with juice from half lemon and a red ruby grapefruit. I love grapefruits. Always enjoy fruits on an empty stomach. Here's why: fruit digests extremely quickly. So when you eat fruit after concentrated foods, it gets held up, you get bloated and the nutrients aren’t being absorbed as efficiently.

Horse in the wrong place... Poor thing.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

How eagerly are you waiting for spring? I can't wait to wear something else than boots and heavy coats again. I was so happy when I received a package from my friends at Juil. Inside were these very cool sandals that are sure to be my favorite thing to wear this summer.

I’m committed to treating my feet as well as I treat the rest of my body. Our feet are our foundation. They keep you connected to the earth. The Energy Flow Technology in these sandals provides a conduit for the calming, stabilizing energy of the earth to flow into your body, as if you were walking barefoot in the park.

Give your feet the care they deserve and your whole body will thank you.

Now summer, where are you? Come soon so I can test these in real action! Keep your eyes open for another posting once summer approaches!

We stayed in the city for fun one night and chose a place close to hubs' job so that he could be at work bright and early for once. Radio City Apartments had tiny lobby with 24 hr staff and it definitely gave a vibe of a budget hotel.
Price was not bad and we were upgraded to a two bedroom apartment instead of one bedroom, which we had originally booked. First bedroom had one kind bed and the second two doubles. It also had full kitchen open to the dining area and living room.
This was ok place to stay for a night, but it just seemed a little old due to the horrible carpeting, curtains and bedspreads as well as the furniture seemed a little outdated.
Amenities available at the Radio City Apartments:
Daily Maid Service
Laundry Facility on Premises
Italian Restaurant
Free Wireless High-speed Internet Access
Free daily gym pass to Bally Total Fitness
This place was not our cup of tea and I don't think we'll stay here again. Our expectations are just a bit higher nowadays than they used to be.
