OUTFITS FIT FOR THE OFFICE

Something little different in our programming today. I was channel surfing looking for my show "The Big Bang Theory" (I love Sheldon!!!) and bumped in to some makeover show with a very fashionable host that immediately caught my eye. The show was "How do I look" and the fabulous host was Jeannie Mai. This discovery came just the right time, because now that I don't have to wear all black uniform at work anymore, I've been experiencing some lack of imagination with my office outfits. I still tend to wear all black. I guess it's been wearing off on me during all the years I spent working at that hotel. The above outfits are perfect for the office! Although I would probably still have to wear a cardigan or blazer over it since this is corporate atmosphere (A reminder to myself: Next job goal is in creative field). I love the subtle blast of color combined with toned down high-waist bottoms.

  1. Those outfits are really nice! You know a lot of stores will help you put together a complete outfit. I find that works a lot better than buying individual pieces here and there. Mind you, you always look really nice and seem to have no problems coordinating outfits (unlike me). According to my husband, I tend to favor 'Eastern Block 1990's mail order bride outfits'- LOL!

    1. Thanks Kristina! And LOL! Your hubby is funny. I'm sure that's said with all love. My husband sometimes describes my look as "bag ladyish", but what does he know anyway. :) I describe his style as mousy grey. No color whatsoever. Although I'm trying to change his style discreetly by buying him colorful scarves and t-shirts. Orange looks gorgeous on him!

  2. The use of colors is nice, but I am not sure how many offices are out there where you could wear a tube top or a one-shoulder.. The sleeveless looks are very junior. I think when it comes to work, conservative dress is always better than too revealing. And the old adage of dressing up to the position where you want to be, is good to keep in mind too. That said, dressing conservatively doesn't have to be boring, it's just a lot more challenging. I think a very good role model is our first lady. She uses color and dresses very appropriately but not boring. I guess any of Jeannie's outfits could be made more "officey" by adding a cardigan or a jacket..

    1. Yes, I would not be able to wear anything sleeveless at my office, not even on casual Fridays. I don't feel comfortable wearing only shirt or blouse either, got to wear blazer too. Corporate world is sooooooo restricting (I'm noticing after being here for 2 months). That's why I'm now looking to change jobs again and work somewhere more laid-back and creative. Somewhere where nobody cares if you show up at work wearing a tutu :) That's more my kind of environment.
