Summer is here and my social life has gotten way busier than what it was in the winter. Yeah, I don't really like to leave the house during the winter... Summer is whole different story. Besides being the social butterfly, we got a house renovation going on (kitchen and ceilings) AND moving to our new townhouse. So you have to excuse my silence for a little while. I'll be back with news momentarily.

We went to see Reindeerspotting during the Finnish Documentary Event at Moma. There were so many other documents I wanted to see as well, but no time. Hopefully they'll have this event again next year.
Movie candies were provided by Sockerbit Sweet & Swedish, very cute candy store on Christopher Street, a place you all should visit. My dentist will punish me again during our next check up, but our candy is just sooo much better than American. Makes me miss home a little less... Just a little.

These pictures are few days old, because it's dark and rainy right now. So at least today, the Midsummer eve, there will be no BBQ and partying outdoors. We'll see how the weather turns out to be tomorrow and if we can throw a little party if the sun shows up.
Traditionally it's just grilling outdoors and having drinks and staying up all night together with the sun.
Here I'm having a drink that friend of mine just discovered that tastes just like our ciders back home. My version has ginger ale and peach schnapps. Very sweet for someone who doesn't drink soda or sugary juices, but one glass to cheer for the summer solstice is fine and yummy!
Happy Midsummer, Summer Solstice and Weekend to you all!

I don't know about firming and toning ( I think exercise is the only way for that to happend), but this organic oil from Mambino Organics smells sweet mellow orange.
I snack a lot and try to keep it superhealthy so I tend to mix different kinds of nuts, seeds with just a little bit of dried fruits (fruits are very high in sugar). I love raw unsalted almonds, pistachios, cashews, dried pineapple and banana.Today I added goji berries and sunflower seeds to this mix. I'm not a fan of the flavor of gojies, but they are too good for you not to eat them, so mixing them with other goodies works better. I'm reading my February book, Superfoods by David Wolfe and Goji berries seem to be the king of the superfoods so I'ma just keep eating them.

Why they're so good for you? Gojies are packed with 18 different amino acids and eight essential amino acids. Goji Berries are one of the highest antioxidant containing fruits in the world, typically containing 2-4 times the amount found in blueberries. Goji berries are an excellent source of trace minerals, such as zinc, iron, copper, calcium and phosphorous, as well as vitamins B1, B2, B6 and E.

I must say that nothing exciting is happening in my life right now, so I got nothing but twitpics to post again. Soon life will get more exciting though. Many fun summer events are coming up, we're moving to our new place in a month and I got two job interviews so far coming up, so hopefully there's something to report sooner or later. In a meanwhile, enjoy these.
At the airport.
Slow early morning in midtown Manhattan. I love enjoying my tea while watching the city waking up.
So much rain this spring/summer.
My first time at the Kimchi Taco Truck.
TOFU EDAMAME FALAFEL Taco- Ground Tofu, Edamame and Chickpeas flavored with Signature Asian Spices topped with Zesty Kimchi Yogurt Sauce. Sooooo goood!!!
Lunch at Otarian.

Yes, it can get wild at nights in Atlantic City. There are so many clubs,  happy hours and bars to choose from and with a big crowd you're all about the good time.
We did spin few rounds at the dance floor at DUSK, but things got even wilder after leaving the club and heading over to the Wild Wild West. Pictures are pretty self-explanatory.
I also finally had the pleasure to eat at Hard Rock Cafe which I've never done in my life. They have salads and few other veggie options (sandwich and a burger), but what I loved was the cocktail called Purple Haze. I didn't actually order that at first. I ordered something with coconut water, but the bartender refused to make it because he said it tastes terrible. So I went with his recommendation and got the Purple Haze that has Vodka, Rum and Gin mixed with Sweet and Sour then topped with Sierra Mist and Chambord Liqueur Royale.
Mmmm... Purple Haze.
Good times.

Last weekend few of us girls packed our bags and headed out to to the Jersey Shore, more specifically the Atlantic City, to celebrate our friend's big birthday.
Atlantic City is like the poor man's Las Vegas; full of casinos, restaurants, bars, shows, live music, happy hours, trashy people...
But they also have nice things like long beaches, good live bands, beach bars, great happy hour deals (try Wild Wild West's 24 hour happy hour), the outlets and beautiful shopping mall called The Pier Shops at Caesars for some hangover retail therapy and long boardwalk for looooong walks (omg, we walked so much my feet still hurt).
I think it's a fun place to hang out even if you don't gamble, which none of us did. I'll tell you a little bit more about the night life in the next posting.
Hope your week has started off great! We got some serious heat coming up our way this week (99F tomorrow, yikes!). Stay fresh, friends!

Sky room in Hell's Kitchen is one of the few rooftops that actually has decent happy hour.  So if you don't feel like spending $14 for a lame margarita or watered down beer from the tap, head out to this place during their happy hour (4pm-7pm).
I had the pleasure to open the rooftop season (for the second time...) with our interns that had their last day of work and after a lunch meeting we took it to the roof. I believe that at 34th floor this is the highest rooftop bar in Manhattan so the views are quite nice.
