It was a cold snowy day when I headed to the East Village to celebrate my dear friend's birthday. We had dinner at a Japanese restaurant called Kumo and had their extensive "all you can eat sushi"- deal. That included all you can drink too... Not always such a great idea.
For appetizer you could choose from an array of salads and soups.
They had great selection of sushi, sashimi and maki rolls. I tried few different vegetarian options that were fresh and quite tasty.
Birthday girl getting busy with the chopsticks.
And that's me making my Sake Bomb. What a disgusting drink. Cold watered down beer and hot sake. Yummy indeed.
Kumo is small on the size, but has a nice feel with cute white faux-leather couches in otherwise dark interior.
After we finished our dinner we headed to the other side of the Village, west, and had some wine and champagne at this very pretty restaurant/lounge called Veranda. I'd love to go back to Veranda for brunch or romantic dinner with the hubs.
The night ended at the legendary gay dive Stonewall Inn which is the site of the Stonewall riots of 1969, which are widely considered the start of the modern gay liberation movement. Someone from our party ordered shots for everyone and the bartender wanted to surprise us with it, so this is what we got, neon green sweetness. That was the last drink of the night for me. Good times.

  1. that looks like such a fun bday! and such good food!!

  2. It sure was fun times and good food. Drinks could've been better tho... I ended up going to the wrong train on my way back home in the middle of the night and ended up in the wrong neighborhood crowded with bums but was lucky to find a cab after 10 minute search and get back home safe. Wow, I felt so terrible at work the next morning... Never again. :)

  3. Looks like a lot of fun!!
