When I first moved to Manhattan in 2004 I was renting a room in Lower East Side right at Delancey Street (Baruch projects). The blue building in the background is Hotel on Rivington that I've mentioned few times before, for example here and here.
I loved that I could walk to East Village, Chinatown and South Street Seaport from my apartment. East River Park was right there and I took long walks along the river walk. Lower East Side is very real and not uppity like many other areas in NYC. I love coming here and just walk around and see all the new cafes, restaurants and bakeries that have opened up.
The reason for my trip to LES was to go get some cupcakes from Babycakes vegan bakery. They have tons of gluten free and vegan products. My next birthday cake is so going to be from here. And so will my husbands'.
Recognize these guys? They are my beloved Moomins.  I got this shirt during my last trip to Finland. It's a horrible fit, but I love these guys too much.

  1. Kiitos Karima! Ajattelin etta olis jo aika tuoda muumit Nykiin.:)
