Cheery holiday cupcakes. Perfect easy dessert (and breakfast for me...).
I left most my gift shopping for Christmas eve after work and lord knows I tried to stay calm in the midst of that craziness. Can't believe how many people were out there! Union Square and 34th St. were terribly crowded. I had heavy bags to carry, I was sweating like a little pig and I had terrible headache. But I felt very accomplished after it was all done. Note to self for next year: Get your damn shopping done on Black Friday and book some tickets to the Caribbean for the holidays!

I enjoyed quality time at home...
Did some xmas shopping and even got some packages shipped for the family in Finland....
Received some gift boxes from Finland....
Went for a painful winter run...
Tried once again take our holiday card photo with the kitties, didn't succeed too well, but since we're running out of time I had to pick one. And this is not it.
Coordinated charity event with Finns in a gorgeous West Village townhouse...
...and now I'm tired. I still haven't bought any gifts for him, his family or my best friend. This means that I'm going to have to go to Union Square again tomorrow after work, check out the Holiday Shops, DSW and Filene's Basement for some last minute gifts. Everything is last minute for me. Just sent out the xmas cards today. Hopefully they'll get delivered before New Years...

I'm still in the process of decorating our house for the holidays, but lack motivation. Usually watching HGTV or decorating magazines helps and here are few pretty things I found around the internet.
I absolutely adore these reindeer candelabras by Pentik. I hope that pink gift box under our tree has one of these fellas in it. My parents sent us their present from Finland already and it's taking all my willpower not to open it.
I imagine chocolates, liquorish and hopefully something little from Pentik... These following decor ideas I found from www.marthastewart.com
Fun way to serve the party drinks.
Last years' holiday decor in our house. I'm not crazy about the colorful tree lights. This year it's all white and silver.

Saturday I went to see my friend's play A Certain Audacity. I got to tell you, it was funny and full of drama and strong emotions. I wasn't allowed to film during the show, but got my camera out at the end of the play and recorded a little memory for myself. After the show I hopped in the cab and drove down to 46th St. between 12th and 11th Avenue for the Nordic Nights's Lucia Party at Hudson Terrace.
They had some glogg, pepperkakkor, Kopparberg's Pear Cider and lussekatter. Lucia's sang their songs at midnight, but otherwise it was just a regular lounge/club with very loud music. Many Swedish pop songs that I've never heard of, but people went wild over them on the dance floor.

Wednesday evening few of us Finns got together at Butterfield8 to celebrate the holidays. Open bar and fabulous ladies (and one fabulous guy).
We've also brought the holiday spirit in to our house and the tree's been decorated. I bought lots of scented candles from Filene's Basement (they got awesome bargains on tons of candles and reed diffusers) and trying to start decorating other parts of our house too.
Our tree is all silver and white this year. And it's huge. This is "his" favorite holiday of the year, so we got a giant tree now. What's next...
Tonight I'm going to see my very very dear friend Keli act in her first theater production in a play called A Certain Audacity that's playing at American Theater of Actors at 54th St. between 8th-9th Avenue. After that it's time for some Scandinavian Lucia celebration at Hudson Terrace starting at 10pm. Glogg, Kopparberg's cider, lussekatter and pepperkakkor.

I've been whining here for a while about my problematic skin and for now things are looking a little better. I changed all my products and gave it some time so see what works and what not. And these following products have been the saviors for my skin.
To cleanse my face I use Shue Uemura's cleansing oil. I really don't need to use separate eye make up remover because this miracle oil removes it as well. I'm still looking for a good toner, but in a meanwhile I'm using some lotus flower toner from Yin Spa. For moisturizier I use Sonya Dakar's Omega 3 Repair Complex -Acne oil. It's 100% botanical and leaves my skin real silky and super moisturized, but not oily. I absolutely love this product and use it mornings and evenings after cleansing. Sometimes I switch between the Omega 3-oil and RareMinerals Purely Nourishing Facial Moisturizer.
For eyes I use Lumene's Vitamin C+invigorating eye serum that has a neat roll-on applicator. And random breakouts I tackle with Burt's Bees Willow bar targeted acne spot treatment or Body Shop's Tea Tree oil.
After showering, while my skin is still damp, I rub on generously all over my body some Cocoa Butter Body Oil. I love the scent and it absorbs fast without leaving you feeling greasy. Another oil I use every now and then is Sephora's Guava Passion Dry Oil. The scent is heavenly, but it really does not moisturize as well as the Cocoa Butter Oil. No more dry winter skin! Woohoo!
I only use Bare Escentual's mineral make up that is light on my skin and makes my skin glow and look healthy. I start with the primer and then use 2 different tone foundations, bronzer and for finishing touch I brush on mineral veil for all day lasting freshness.
This skin care routine seems to work for me right now and my skin seems happy. Of course there are other things that you need to do in order to maintain healthy skin such as drinking enough water, avoiding sun and getting facials. I NEED TO get facial once a month, right after I'm done with my period in order to clean out all impurities and clogs.

Janita was performing at Arlene's Grocery and of course, we were there. I really like her new music. It flows nicely and I like her stage presence. So cute. I was going to get her CD that were for sale there, but noticed I had once again spent all my cash (this is why I don't carry cash, it goes way too fast). I will see her again on Dec 16th at the Finland Center Panzi Charity Party, so I will get it then.
I also have to tell you about this restaurant we went before the gig for some wine and dinner. Awesome food and very reasonable drink prices.
Nadal is located on 5th Avenue and 13th St. and serves french cuisine in a romantic candle light country setting in two levels. I like it because it doesn't get noisy and I'm able to have a conversation here. This place is actually on my way to the office so I need to stop in more frequently. I had pumpkin ravioli that was amazing and my friend Saara had the salmon that was very good as well.
Here's a video of Janita at Arlene's Grocery
